Tony Brown.

Tony is the original founder of Living Sober and has worked tirelessly over the last five years in supporting people suffering chronic alcohol problems. Following his stint in rehab, it was Tony’s first hand experience of the sub-standard after care available to people like him that led him to set up Living Sober.

For the past four years, Tony and his volunteers have provided a 24/7 telephone support network for several groups and workshops, including a Family and Friends support group.

My name is Martin I am an alcoholic who is five years sober which is only possible thanks to living sober. Living sober has improved every aspect of my life including further education and a different career path. I am also able to help others as I was and continue to be helped. As a volunteer outreach worker I am able to help others live a sober life. Mentoring people helps me learn about myself. I visit people in their home, I provide transport and am availible on the phone anytime and participate in at least four meetings a week. Other alcoholics are the key to my recovery.

I am a recovering alcoholic, sober for 3 years. I also a volunteer for Living Sober as part of my volunteer role I am one of female outreach workers, offering vital support for women in there homes; 24 hour telephone support, allowing women to access support when they need it, which can make the difference between a drink or not. I also run a women’s group, a place where women can break free from there isolation in a safe, comfortable environment  amongst friends who know how they feel. I am also involved with a community based project supporting those less fortunate.
Living Sober has given me a purpose in life- the opportunity to help others as I have been helped. Together we can overcome.
